Web Application

State of Illinois

Data Sets:

iApplied web application acts as a centralized repository of records of people applying for jobs. It allows applicant information to be added/removed/searched manually and programmatically.

How did you us the data set(s) in your Submission?

The dataset simple acts as the threshold for unemployment history before the usage of I applied. The expectation is that once implemented, we should see a decrease in UI payments and/or increase in people applying for jobs on a stead basis.

What problem/challenge is your Submission helping to solve, and how?

1) Automate job application auditing for the UI office. This will reduce staff.
2) Greatly encourage UI beneficiaries to keep applying for jobs while collecting.
3) Hopefully will more people applying, more people will get hired, which reduces company payments into UI or atleast removes the current system which is almost totally on the “Honor System”

What community members will your Submission help serve, and how will they be impacted?

All companies that pay into UI, citizens that are beneficiaries of UI payments and all tax payers by increasing UI auditing efficiency and HOPEFULLY, being able to lower the tax base needed to make UI payments.

How do you envision city and/or state government utilizing your Submission to make a positive impact on the Pilot Community of State of Illinois?

The application has an RESTful API which allows the state to make simple http calls to get a UI beneficiaries job application history. We’ve already created a PHP wrapper for this to expedite development.

With a solid developer, the state could be using this application with in an hour.

I would expect the state to run monthly automated audits on UI beneficiaries and those who are documented (via our app) as applying for jobs should get preference in terms of continuing payment eligibility. Seeing how the state has a tremendous fiscal problem, boosting efficiency with apps like this can make a large difference without a enforcing a major change in the UI department.
